Of the opinion that the commercial real estate market is reaching the base of its near two year decline, entrepreneur Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou of EasyGroup, is planning to make a return to the industry.

The brains behind EasyJet is now looking to take advantage of the current economic situation in commercial property premises at very attractive discounts. With the launch of EasyHotel and EasyOffice, he plans to use these premises for offering a wider array of business services for his Easy enterprises.

With the current economic slump, values of real estate in London have been hard hit and Sir Stelios plans to invest in empty commercial premises there. He has stated that the risks of buying now are minimal, even if the market were to lose another ten percent of its value. He’s not the only one to have clocked this as many other businesses have also seen this opportunity, leading to a rise in the need for the services of office planning specialists such as Claremont.

At this time, the EasyHotel chain has six branches with four in central London and one each at Luton and Heathrow airports. Now he is looking into developing branches in Gatwick as well as more in central London. He anticipates that the number of branches will double in the next couple of years.

Sir Stelios plans to use the empty office buildings for the EasyOffice franchise and for converting into hotels in his EasyHotel franchise chain.

Ultimately, Sir Stelios plans to sell the hotels to the franchisees. The chairman of BT will also join the EasyJet board in hope of resolving a dispute.Sir Stelios himself currently holds a twenty-seven percent stake in the EasyJet company and has the right to assign two board members.
